Eric J. Sousa was admitted to the State Bar in 2004. Eric is a native of San Joaquin County and grew up in the Tracy area. As a boy, Eric worked alongside his three brothers and father in the family harvesting business. When Eric was in high school, he and his family moved to Escalon, where Eric spent the next several years working on the family ranch, feedlot operation, and harvesting business.

After high school, Eric attended California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, where he majored in Business Management and minored in Criminal Justice. During college, Eric worked as a paralegal at a local litigation firm.

In 2001, Eric graduated summa cum laude from CSU Stanislaus, with a B.A. in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resources Management. That same year Eric was recognized as CSU Stanislaus’ Outstanding Management Student of the Year.

After graduating from CSU Stanislaus, Eric attended the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law. During law school, Eric clerked at the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office in Stockton and also at the Modesto law firm of Damrell, Nelson, Schrimp, Pallios, Pacher & Silva. While at the District Attorney’s Office, Eric clerked in the Homicide, Domestic Violence, and Violations of Probation divisions. Eric graduated from U.C. Davis in May 2004, earning the degree of Juris Doctor. Eric was admitted to the California State Bar in December 2004. Upon graduating law school, Eric became a litigation associate with the Damrell firm.

Eric maintains a diverse litigation practice, practicing primarily in the areas of business litigation, trust litigation, commercial litigation, general civil litigation, and agricultural law. Eric is also experienced in the areas of estate planning, bankruptcy, and business formation and business transactions. His litigation experience includes extensive practice before both State and Federal courts and before various administrative tribunals, including the Labor Commissioner, Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board, and the Federal Bureau of Land Management. Eric has represented clients at all stages of litigation and in court and jury trials, arbitrations, and mediations. His transactional experience includes business formation, corporate counseling and governance, and business transactions.

Eric is admitted to practice before all California state courts and before the United States District Court, Eastern and Central Districts of California.

Eric is a member of the Stanislaus County Bar Association and American Bar Association, Litigation Section. Eric is also a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi and a member of the Club Portuguese of Stockton.
